A very yummy Pesto recipe

2 handfuls of basil (pick leaves off stems)
1 bunch of cilantro with stems! (stems on cilantro are edible)
3 large mint leaves, or 6 small mint leaves (spearmint leaves NOT peppermint)
4 large cloves of garlic
process in the food processor
Next add 1 lemon into the food processor
(I use one juicy myer lemon- a good way to squeeze out the juice is to first, roll the lemon on a table surface back and forth, then cut it open in half, then hold the lemon over your hand and squeeze the juice out! Your hand will be there to catch all the seeds! It is a good trick!)
Then add 1/2 cup Nutrional Yeast flakes
1/2 parmasean cheese (if you are vegan you can leave it out)
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
Process again, scrape down the sides (add another 1/4 cup olive oil if it is super thick)
1 -2 Tablespoon low sodium tamari sauce (add more if you like salty flavor)
1/2 cup walnuts
1/2 cup slivered almonds
Grind everything again for about a minute

  3. This hors d'oeuvre could satisfy! Flavor packed! What's that yeast doing in there? Trying to push the nutrition value over the top are you... or does it really add to the taste?
